Hang on; you’re in for a wild ride!

Personally I think there are certain activities that nobody can ever be too old for. One of those activities I would have to say is water tubing.

Water tubing, for those of you who don’t know, is where a boat pulls a tube throughout the water as you hold on. With the speed you’re going sometimes it is very difficult to hold on but that is all part of the fun! The feel of the wind flying through your hair I have heard is just unbelievable. Everybody I know that has gone has absolutely loved it. Water tubing is one thing that is on my ‘To do list’ for this summer.

Many of my friends go water tubing and they say it is a great water activity on a hot day. I’ve also heard that it is a fun way to hang out with family or friends. You can either choose to go tubing by yourself or you can have others on the tube with you. Either way you have to hang on for as long as you can!

Another thing that goes hand-in-hand with water tubing is other blow ups that people use in the water. One is a circular platform that is in the middle of a lake. You swim out to it and get on top of it. There you can hang around for a bit before getting back into the water or you can even jump around on it. Another thing about it is you can even jump off of it. When jumping off of it doesn’t even have to be a boring old normal jump, you can do a back flip, front flip or whatever you choose!

In my opinion, these different blow up water activities are just another way to spice up your summer and keep you cool. It also gives you the opportunity to be around all sorts of people. Whether you have done some of these, none of these or all of these, it doesn’t hurt to do them again or give them a try. Don’t just go through all of your same ole same traditions this summer, change it up a bit!

Swing on into the water!

As teenagers get older there ideas of fun tend to change, they also tend to want to do more fun and dangerous things. One thing a lot of teenagers tend to get into would be rope swinging, at least my friends and I have gotten into it.

For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s where you have a sturdy rope tied in a tree that you use to swing off of and jump into water. Some teenagers do this into ponds, creeks, and so much more. My groups of friends personally do this in a pond that we have in the back of my house on my neighbor’s side. The first time I ever participated in this, I was beyond scared. I’m neither a fan of falling especially when I know it’s something partially dangerous. However, once I did it the first time I continually wanted to do it. The rush building you up for it was beyond an amazing feeling inside. One thing you need to be extremely careful about when it comes to this is how tight and sturdy the rope is along with the branch it is tied to. Also, you have to make sure whatever type of water you’re jumping into is deep so you don’t hurt yourself.

Some people I know do something similar to this. However, instead of swinging they just choose to jump in but off different things such as tall rocks. Many people go to Akron Falls or any other places and do this. Growing up it’s just another way of feeling more dangerous and free. It gives us a whole new outlook on fun especially because the things we did as a child don’t particularly keep us entertained like they used to. At one point in time, everybody gets this way.

I find it as a way of being able to hang out with friends while feeling free and having fun. It’s definitely a way to cool down and fills you with such an amazing rush. For those of you who do this or something similar and for those who plan on someday trying it, you must be very careful because it can be slightly dangerous.

Ton of balloons, ton of fun!

One of my favorite activities to cool off in the summer or to even just play for fun was definitely involving water balloons. When it comes to water balloons you can do so much with them. I know everybody has at least participated in a water balloon toss or even a water balloon war.

When my group gets together and goes camping, almost three times a day, which is seven days total of camping, we have a water balloon toss. Our toss becomes extreme. We camp with a lot of people ranging between 20 to 30 people total. The best part is that all different ages come together and have fun. We always have two or three buckets full of balloons ready to go as we all stand in a huge circle with a good amount of distance. You can’t ever go wrong when it comes to water balloons, the fun is constant. Sometimes that toss can even turn into a water balloon war.

With the new toys coming out, there have been some that were created that have to deal with water balloons such as the water balloon splatter and the water balloon slingshot. The splatter is where each person has an end of a rope in there hand. In the center is a circle type holder that keeps the water balloon in place. Each person uses all there power to send the holder with the balloon in it powerfully down to the other person they are playing with. Eventually with the amount of pressure and power the balloon will splatter all over someone. The slingshot is just a typical slingshot however it is used for water balloons. One other new thing out is the water balloon launcher. It’s almost a cone that you hold and just simply launch at someone. Therefore, the balloon will fly out and splash open.

As you can see, water balloons can be turned into a wide variety of different events, you can even come up with your own game. It’s a fun, simple way to cool off and have fun. Especially if you aren’t extremely hot and don’t want to be extremely wet. It may take some time to fill all the balloons up, but in the end, it’s definitely worth it.

Slip into the younger days!

Going back into the old childhood days, it brings back a lot of memories. One fun memory would be the days of the slip-in-slides. As days continue to get warmer and warmer, many people do the same ole’ same such as going to the beach. When you get older you tend to change bits of your childhood. By this I mean you grow out of your old ways of “fun”.
For those of you who don’t want to use the old fashioned swimming pool to cool on off, you can decide to use the slip-in-slide. There is nothing wrong with being a kid again. I personally always loved to use the slip-in-slide. I can remember when it first came out and it was the best form of entertainment. Not only does it cool you down but it makes you lose track of time. It’s the perfect way to cool off, but to the point where you’re not soaking wet. It allows you to be wet and also dry off in no time, basically for those days where the weather is just perfect.
Many used to use the slip-in-slide for parties with friends and family. This is one type of way too cool off where it is preferably used with others. It’s also easy to use, set up, and put away. It doesn’t take too long at all. Some days in the summer where you’re bored of the same old beach or swimming pool or whatever it is, you can go ahead and go slip-in-sliding.
My family and friends always loved using the slip-in-slide at parties. As I grew older I as well grew out of it, however, I did get back into the whole slip-in-slide idea. Every summer when we go camping, we do our own version of the slip-in-slide. Although it isn’t the same as when I was younger, I still feel young doing it and it’s an excellent way to cool off. My family’s traditional slip-in-slide is referred to as the redneck slip-in-slide. This is where we go slipping and sliding into a mud puddle that is always dug up at the beach we go to in the summer. After a couple times of doing so, we go wash off in the water then were back at it again. Another form of slip-in-slides that I've heard of would be using a tarp.
Whichever form of slip-in-slide that you do, it’s always fun. You can even come up with your own version like my family and I did. Either way, it doesn’t hurt to live a little. You will never be younger than you are at this very moment, so don’t be afraid to have some fun.

Too cool for the pool?

When the summer heat kicks in, people find there selves so desperate to cool down. One way many choose to do so would be by sitting inside with the cool air conditioning. But nope, not this time. One thing you can do is take a jump into the good old pool. It doesn’t matter how deep or how big your pool is. It also doesn't matter whether it's a blow up, in ground or above ground. It doesn't matter if you have a deck or not, the feeling of the water is enough to instantly cool you down. Even if your pools in the sun, the whole top layer of water will be warm but once your body dives on under, you will instantly feel the coolness.  Now I know that when many hear the word ‘pool’, they don’t think of fun.

Many people these days don’t use the pool because instead they go to the beach. To spice up the fun, you can invite some friends over or just go with family. It’s okay to go in alone, sometimes the quietness is exactly what you need. However, taking a jump into the pool can bring a lot of different fun events. I preferably always have the radio going while I’m in the pool. That way nothing is quiet.
There are many products made for the pool to expand your fun experience such as noodles, blow up tubes, and so much more. Everybody loves the different blow up tubes that you can buy. Whether it be used for relaxing or used for enjoyment, there always a blast. Also, many homemade games can come in handy along with traditional games such as chicken or Marco Polo.
You don’t even need to go into the pool for a long time; if you just wanted a simple, easy, quick cool down all you need to do is jump on in. After a long day’s work at my house, my family loves to go take a quick dip before eating dinner or going in for the night, that way working hard pays off.
Another good thing about pools is that it isn’t expensive once you own it. If you decide to go to the beach you may need to pay in, pay for parking, pay for gas, and pay for any foods and drinks. Usually everybody has a swimming pool or has a friend or neighbor that has one. If it’s right around the corner, you don’t have to worry about timing. It’s simply right there. No matter how old you get, you’re never too old for swimming pools.
